Quentin Tarantino may be best known for a filmography rife with four-letter words and gory violence, but it turns out he's a complete softie when it comes to the most important Leo in his life: his 16-month-old son (sorry, DiCaprio).
Speaking to CBS Sunday Morning's Tracy Smith for a new interview about turning his acclaimed film Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood into a novel, Tarantino shared how he's embracing marriage and fatherhood. The director, a longtime bachelor who'd previously dated Mira Sorvino and Sofia Coppola, was 55 when he married Israeli singer Daniella Pick in 2018.
"I met her, we fell in love, she wanted to get married and I did too, and so I'm married," he told Smith, smiling as he pointed to his wedding band, adding that Pick "didn't take away anything from" his passion for filmmaking.
The couple now divide their time between California and Israel, where their son Leo was born in February 2020.
Tarantino, now 58, couldn't help but get emotional as he spoke about his young son, whose first film, incidentally, was Despicable Me 2.
"If I talk about it too much, I'm already going to start crying," he warned Smith. "I can't even see his name written on a piece of paper without crying."
The proud father added, "He's my Leo. He's my little lion."
And while Tarantino has worked with stars like Brad Pitt, Samuel L. Jackson, John Travolta and Uma Thurman, little Leo may have them all beat.
"He's just the most charming human being I've ever met in my life," the Oscar winner says. "Half the time I look at him and I'm just laughing because he's so funny. And the other time I'm just bursting into tears."
