Bill Mosiello secured his first Ohio State baseball draft pick Monday.

After finishing 31-25 overall and 9-15 in Big Ten play with an 11th place finish in Mosiello's first year, Ohio State saw its first 2023 MLB draft pick come off the board Monday, as left-handed pitcher Isaiah Coupet was selected by the Colorado Rockies with the No. 109 pick in the fourth round.

Coupet is Ohio State's ninth draft pick since 2020, including 2020 second-round catcher Dillon Dingler (Detroit Tigers), 2021 sixth-round pitcher Seth Lonsway (San Francisco Giants) and 2022 sixth-round pitcher T.J. Brock (Toronto Blue Jays).

Coupet is the 115th Ohio State baseball player to be selected in the MLB draft. He is the highest draft pick from Ohio State since Dingler.

The Rockies drafted former Ohio State right-handed pitcher Ryan Feltner in 2018.

A Flossmor, Illinois native, Coupet pitched 132.2 innings for Ohio State in his three college seasons, finishing with a 4.68 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP along with 199 strikeouts.

Last season for the Buckeyes, Coupet, standing at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, posted a record of 4-3 with a team-best 3.55 ERA, striking out 72 batters across 50.2 innings.

Ohio State has not had a first-round MLB draft pick since right-handed pitcher Alex Wimmers was selected by the Minnesota Twins at No. 21 overall in 2010.

Since then, Dingler and outfielder Ronnie Dawson have been Ohio State's only draft picks selected before the fourth round.
