This M&S dress has got me so many compliments I bought it in another colour
Marks & Spencer is my go-to high street store to browse for a few new wardrobe additions when a new season begins. Filled with a vast selection of options, I always find that M&S offers styles that fit true to size, are reliable, on-trend, and incredibly affordable.
Recently, I have been chuffed to find the perfect transitional M&S dress to see me through the spring months and into summer. I originally bought the very affordable £27.50 Pure Cotton Jersey V-Neck Midi Tiered Dress in black but got so many compliments, I ordered the same dress in a tie-dye green too.

This black V-neck tiered midi dress is a must-have wardrobe staple; it's super versatile and can be dressed up or down for any occasion. Plus, it comes in an inclusive range of sizes from 6 to 24, with options in petite, regular, and longer lengths, ensuring it's suitable for almost every body size and shape.
I often choose a size 10 in the regular length when shopping at M&S, and that size was perfect for me. At 5ft 3 inches, the dress reached just above the top of my ankles, which I loved, as I usually find that if it's much longer, it can drown me.
What initially impressed me about the silhouette was the elegant V-neckline. I can be quite particular about V-neck styles, but this cut exposed just the right amount of skin. The tiered midi skirt is also a universally flattering shape that adds a feminine touch and ensures all day comfort.
The sleeves of this dress have also been thoughtfully designed. As anyone with 'bingo wings' will understand, finding a top with pretty sleeves that are not too tight can be a challenge. Since I'm not a fan of my upper arms, I appreciate the way the sleeves of the dress fall about ten centimeters above my elbow and don't hug the upper arm area.
What's more, this dress undoubtedly looks and feels far more expensive than its under £30 price tag. The breathable cotton fabric and breezy skirt shape makes it easy to wear on hot summer days too. It's also fuss-free; no zips or buttons required, you just throw it on and go, which is one of the main reasons why I love this dress.
In the forever-changing British weather, you can also pretty much pair it with any style of jacket, and it will look fabulous every time.
After quickly discovering that the black dress is one of the most comfortable dresses I own, I was delighted to find that the same dress also came in a green tie-dye version that I quickly added to my basket.
I find the vertical tie-dye stripes help lengthen my body and draw the eye away from my tummy area, which I am conscious of. I think the green dress may even now be my favourite, as I have a real fondness for tie-dye prints.
While I’ve mostly worn the black dress with a coordinating pair of black boots, I found the green one looks particularly great with white trainers, as it brings the look together. Other M&S shoppers have said it's a very 'versatile holiday dress' and I will definitely be packing it for my summer holiday to Florida later this year.
✋ Reasons to avoid
While I can't find fault with this dress, I'll mention the lack of pockets because I believe they could enhance it. I love dresses with pockets and believe they would of elevated this design.
I’m not surprised to see this dress is currently trending as an M&S best-seller, so I’d grab it whilst you still can, it will certainly help to put a spring in your step!
