Warmer weather is here and all the outdoor activities that come with it: alfresco dinners, evening walks, bike rides and picnics in the park. We'll be getting out of the house a lot more but we want to make sure we're as comfortable as possible — from head to toe.

Since no one knows better than a podiatrist when it comes to keeping feet healthy and happy, we consulted with NYC-based podiatrist Dr. Polina Zaydenberg on the best spring and summer shoes of the season. The doctor is board-certified by the American Board of Multiple Specialties in Podiatry, Prevention and Treatment of Diabetic Foot Wounds and in Diabetic Footwear.

See those adjustable straps? They're perfect for those with narrow or wide feet, so you really get a fit that's tailor-made to you. Dr. Zaydenberg says they're a great pick for people with metatarsalgia (pain and inflammation in the ball of your foot) and plantar fasciitis.

These ultra-cushioned Asics kicks provide excellent shock absorption, which the podiatrist loves. "The rocker bottom helps with propulsion," she explains.

These New Balance sneakers are available in 20 fun shades, though we're partial to this pink pair. Like the Asics shoes above, Dr. Zaydenberg likes these for their rocker bottom and adds that they're a good pick for those with plantar fasciitis.

If you — or someone you know — has pain in the ball of her foot, these might offer some relief.

"They're accommodative for someone with metatarsalgia because of the platform," Dr. Zaydenberg explains.

These sandals need no introduction. They have a fanbase of nearly 20,000 five-star Amazon reviewers, and it's not hard to see why:

"The density of the sole is accommodative for people with arthralgia (joint pain), people with arthritic conditions and those with heel issues," Dr. Zaydenberg shares.

These monochrome cuties are also comfy and good for your feet.

“The toe box looks accommodative, and they’re supportive," says Dr. Zaydenberg. "Plus, leather and suede are natural materials, which is good for people with skin conditions as they don’t promote sweat.”

There's much to love about these...but it's the straps that won over Dr. Zaydenberg.

“They can accommodate any type of foot, even wide ones," she explains. "The sole is accommodative for those with metatarsalgia and heel spurs."
