Paul Gascoigne arrested at train station over 'drunken assault'
Former England football star Paul Gascoigne was arrested after allegedly assaulting his ex-wife at a train station.
In a reportedly drunken rage, Gazza attacked a station guard and his ex-wife Cheryl in Stevenage, Hertfordshire on Thursday.
According to The Mirror, police said the 46-year-old was taken into custody but not charged.
Witnesses told police that the troubled former footballer was shouting abuse and grabbed the security guard by the neck when confronted.
A Hertfordshire Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called to a report of a man allegedly being drunk and disorderly at Stevenage railway station at 10:30pm on Thursday 4 July.
"Officers attended the location and arrested a 46-year-old male on suspicion of common assault and being drunk and disorderly."
Stunned passengers told The Sun that Gascoigne was "very drunk" and had been having a blazing row with Sheryl, 47, on the platform of the station.
Gascoigne left rehab in America earlier this year after Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans and former England cricketer Ronnie Irani organised it.
