Kind Fed Ex Man in NYC Stops to Rescue Baby Squirrel Who Fell From Tree

Today's busy world is as fast-paced as ever, especially in an urban metropolis like New York City. It's all too easy to get caught up in your stressful schedule, and before you know it, you begin to miss all the fascinating things happening around you. When you're present, you just may end up at the right place at the right time!

That's precisely what happened with one heroic FedEx delivery driver in the middle of a busy downtown shift on August 24. When he saw a baby squirrel fall from a tree, he wasted no time stepping up to help the tiny animal. Bystander @_ameliaevans praised his efforts in the TikTok video she shared following the incident, and now nearly 100 thousand viewers have witnessed this everyday hero giving his all to save this baby squirrel.

OMG--that baby squirrel is so tiny! One commenter even thought that the animal was a NYC rat, and it's easy to see why. That baby is far too young to be venturing, let alone jumping, out of the family tree. There's no telling what could have happened if Amelia and the FedEx delivery man weren't there to help! Luckily, we'll never have to think about it because the baby was safely returned to the base of the tree thanks to the wildlife rescuer.

Naturally, video viewers were gushing over the tiny NYC squirrel and the selfless FedEx man. Plenty of commenters tagged the office and delivery company, demanding they give this man a raise! Outside of his career, though, it's plain as day that he's a generous person who would stop to help in any number of situations. He was the right person to help!

Rescuing Baby Squirrels

This man's kindness may have saved the baby animal's life, but this situation is also a great reason to educate yourself about what to do if you run into a baby squirrel in need of help. Firstly--don't panic! Because they live in the treetops, squirrels are built to survive falls from massive heights. Most of the time, they'll get up and scurry away as if nothing happened! For younger or older squirrels, though, these same falls can be majorly problematic.

There are many wildlife rehabilitation programs that take in sick or injured squirrels exactly like this baby, especially in urban places like NYC. For example, organizations like the Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) will accept sick and injured squirrels, though the hardest part can be determining if an animal needs this level of help. The FedEx driver did the right thing by stimulating the distressed animal right then and there, as bringing it away from the family tree could have more harmful repercussions than benefits.

Kudos to Amelia and the delivery driver for becoming animal rescuers without a second thought. Not everyone would take the time to be so kind!
