Kate Garraway shares 'amazing' moment amid husband Derek Draper's Covid recovery
Kate Garraway has told of her joy after her husband Derek Draper made a comment about her dress, as he continues to recover from his long battle with Covid-19.
Draper only recently returned home after spending more than a year in hospital fighting the coronavirus.
Updating viewers on Good Morning Britain, Garraway said it was “wonderful” having her husband back at home with her and their two children, and that there were “lots of little positives”.
She went on: “Whether those are positives because it's genuinely helping his cognition being at home or whether it’s just because I’m there to see the little things, whereas I couldn’t go in before and we were on FaceTime and stuff, I don't know, but it feels positive.

"Little moments of reaction.
“And he actually said something the other day. I walked in and he said, 'new dress?’”

Garraway’s outfit was new, and the star shared how special it was that Draper had picked up on it.
“I thought that was amazing on so many levels because he recognised it,” she said.
“Second, he realised and remembered that I need a lot of flattery!
“So there was some emotional connection there and some basis of what our relationship has always been based on.”
The TV star also praised those who are helping to care for Draper, and said having him at home was working out well.
"So far so good but I don’t want to tempt fate,” she told her GMB colleagues Susanna Reid and Adil Ray.

Draper returned home earlier in April and Garraway previously shared that it was emotional for everyone.
Speaking on GMB at the time, she said the couple’s two children — Darcey, 15, and Billy, 11 — were waiting at the window as she and Draper pulled up outside.
“I could see two little faces of Darcey and Billy looking out of the window and I could literally see them go, ‘He’s here!’" she said. “They ran out and opened the door.
"He immediately burst into tears, there was a lot of hugging and we got him inside. He absolutely knew he was home."
