Jim Davidson claims theatre axed his gig over Diversity criticism

Jim Davidson has claimed theatre bosses in Torquay have axed his gig following his criticism of Diversity's Black Lives Matter performance.

The dance troupe performed a tribute to the Black Lives Matter movement and police brutality victim George Floyd during an episode of Britain's Got Talent in September last year, prompting an irked Davidson to voice his fury over the performance in a YouTube video.

Now, the 67-year-old has alleged his show at the Princess Theatre in Torquay has been scrapped due to the ongoing fallout from his disparaging comments.

Davidson was due to perform his Last Man Standing set at the theatre in August, but it has now been bumped to the smaller Babbacombe Theatre instead.

During a video on his YouTube channel, he fired: "For the first time in 40 years I won't be playing Torquay's main theatre. They don't want me. They said it was the last straw."

He insisted his comments about Diversity had been taken out of context and accused the theatre of being a "leftie organisation".

"The more 'woke' people are, the more upset I've got to get about it. It's what I've always done, to take the mick out of what is going on," Davidson raged.

"What I actually said was not what was reported. People have reacted to a piece of fake news, and it has been the straw that broke the camel's back," he added, claiming that "someone in London who runs the theatre says they don't want Jim Davidson anymore".

The Ambassador Group, which runs the Princess, told Devon Live it has no comment on why the show has been moved.

Back in September, Davidson called Diversity's performance "the most indulgent piece of stuff I've seen in ages", and denied there was racism in the U.K.

"We've been growing up with Black people around us for years and years and years and there doesn't seem to be a f***ing problem until these young millennial people f***ing started," he raged.
