Jessie J has told how she spent Christmas temporarily deaf and unable to walk straight or sing after being diagnosed with Meniere’s disease.

The Price Tag singer suffered a range of scary symptoms and when she lost the hearing in one ear, rushed to hospital on Christmas Eve to find out what was going on.

Explaining what her Christmas had been like on Instagram stories, she said: “I woke up and felt like I was completely deaf in my right ear, couldn’t walk in a straight line.

“Basically I got told I had Meniere’s syndrome. I know that a lot of people suffer from it and I’ve actually had a lot of people reach out to me and give me great advice, so I’ve just been laying low in silence.

“Now’s the first time I’ve been able to sing and bear it. I just miss singing so much and being around anyone.”

But Jessie tried to keep her spirits up, adding: “It could be way worse, it is what it is. I’m super-grateful for my health. It just threw me off.”

Jessie said that she was glad to have made a quick decision to attend the ear hospital on Christmas Eve and reassured fans that she was feeling much better with some medication.

However, she said: “I haven’t sung for so long and when I sing loud, it sounds like there’s someone trying to run out of my ear.”

Meniere’s disease affects the inner ear, usually only on one side, and can cause problems with balance as it gives sufferers vertigo and tinnitus.

Jessie did not spend Christmas at home in England this year and had posted on Instagram that she had had “a big cry” at how much she was missing family and friends.

She has also shared a video of herself singing, showing fans that she is starting to recover.
