Prince Andrew’s excruciating BBC interview hit headlines over the weekend as he answered uncomfortable questions about his links to Jeffrey Epstein – but one celebrity was thrilled to no longer be behind the “car crash interview of the century”.

Kerry Katona was an unlikely commentator on the landmark royal interview, in which the prince gave a series of bizarre explanations of why he couldn’t have had sex with Virginia Roberts, who says she was trafficked by Epstein as a teenager.

Former Atomic Kitten star Katona compared the grilling to her 2008 This Morning appearance where she was accused of being drunk on air, but later claimed her worse-for-wear appearance was down to her bipolar medication.

Katona posted on Instagram: “Turns out my interview is no longer car crash of the Century no more #princeandrew cheers for that!!!”

She went on to mock his alibi that he had been in Pizza Express Woking on the day he was alleged to have had sex with Roberts.

The singer wrote: “But I’m sure I seen him in ICELAND Woking buying a prawn ring! It was very rememberable as I thought how unusual it was to see Prince Andrew with ONE POUND!!”

Prince Andrew’s Newsnight interview with Emily Maitlis was also the butt of the joke during the launch of I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!, as hosts Ant and Dec introduced the new celebrity campmates.

They joked about Prince Andrew’s claim that he couldn’t have danced with Roberts, who said he was sweating profusely during their first alleged encounter, because of an unusual condition that meant he was unable to sweat.

Ant McPartlin, who has just returned to the ITV show after a series off while he was in rehab, said: “And what a line-up we’ve got in store for you this year. Ten celebrities, all of them very nervous, all of them sweating.”

Co-host Declan Donnelly chipped in: “Presuming they can sweat, not everyone can sweat, apparently.”
