Huskies' Responses to Mom Telling Them 'No' Couldn't Be More On-Brand

When I started dating my now-fiancé, he made it clear that he and his happy-go-lucky Husky were a package deal. This 70-pound howling hairball is so different than my family's senior cockapoo, and it definitely took some adjustments on my end to learn how to best care for him. But now that I'm several years into being a Husky owner, I couldn't imagine my life any other way!

In fact, sometimes I forget that other dog owners aren't used to the constant drama and sass that Huskies bring to the table. Sure, many other dogs love to use their voice, too, but there's something about this breed that's just fantastically over the top.

Just ask this Husky mom! On April 7, the owner of Huskies Tikanni, Kita, and Tehya had the most relatable struggle trying not to get her dogs to howl. But as Husky owners know, you can't simply tell a Husky 'no!'

LOL! These silly dogs just couldn't help but follow their instinct to howl. And once one Husky starts howling, they all have to join in! Even the sleepy gal on the sofa had to get in on the howling action.

"I love the support of the Husky in the back," commented @sarawebbscience. It's too precious! Siberian Huskies are prone to suffering from FOMO--or the fear of missing out--so they won't skip an opportunity to join in on the fun. Howling, playtime, snacktime...they want to do it all!

But what could set off dog howling like this? While it could be anything from a siren to a random urge, it's no surprise that saying 'no' only exacerbated the issue. After all, anything is a challenge to a Husky--especially when it comes to using their voice.

Why Do Huskies Howl and Talk?

Anyone who has owned Huskies spent time with them or even watched videos of them knows just how noisy they can be. Even when a dog of this dog breed isn't with any other dog, they'll let you know exactly what's going on simply because they can. My boy and I have conversations every day, and he gets so excited!

But why do dogs howl and talk so much? It's a genetic thing! When sledding in snowy environments like Huskies were bred to do, these dogs need loud voices in order to communicate with one another. They can't face one another while harnessed to a sled, so they have to rely on what they can hear instead of communicating through body language.

Even if your Husky isn't a sled dog, there's a good chance they enjoy talking, howling, and maybe even screaming like Tikanni, Kita, and Tehya. It's not the most peaceful sound, but it sure is entertaining!
