How do you know that your cat is feeling happy? Some kitties make it rather obvious, with a hum of luxurious purring, but other cats are a bit more difficult to read. Especially shelter cats! Not only are they under massive amounts of stress while in the shelter, but they're probably feeling shut down, too.

That was certainly the case for Trixie, a sweet rescue kitty who finally started showing clear signs of contentedness after going home with her forever family for the first time. On April 2, Trixie's owner commemorated the important milestone with the sweetest throwback TikTok video, and everyone loves watching her make biscuits for the very first time. A shelter cat's first moments at home are oh-so-special!

Aww! This sweet little kitty looks so curious and hopeful--is is true that she could spend five whole years at the shelter? Sadly, it is. When a commenter asked why Trixie had to wait so long to find her forever home, the cat's owner explained that she was considered 'too shy.'

"She was definitely scared at first! She actually hid in a box in the closet for the first 10 hours, and then she decided to be brave and come on out!" What a brave kitty! That's a big adjustment to make after spending years in a small space at the shelter, but it sounds like it's been two years of biscuit-making since then. Now that's the happily ever after that all shelter pets deserve!

Now, it's almost as if the rescue cat has aged backward. Her owner describes her as having "kitten energy," and her TikToks are full of all kinds of feline shenanigans. This white and tabby cat is truly living her best life--even if she had to spend way too long waiting in the meantime.

Why Do Cats Make Biscuits?

Whether you're a cat owner yourself or just enjoy watching cat videos on social media, you probably know that biscuits are a good thing. Not only are they downright adorable to witness, but they're also a sign of a happy cat.

Kneading--or 'making biscuits'--can be a sign of love or affection when performed on top of a person or while being pet. In this case, it's most likely a comforting action that's meant to ease tension and help them relax. Sometimes, cats will knead an object as a way of marking their territory or leaving their scent, but others will knead a surface as a way of getting comfortable before laying down.

Trixie has made biscuits every day since coming home to her forever family, and she's just one of thousands of rescue cats who have gotten a second chance thanks to animal shelters. Just think of how many biscuits have been made thanks to cat rescues worldwide!
