Harry Potter's Jessie Cave recalls 'excruciating' Daniel Radcliffe encounter
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince's Jessie Cave apparently embarrassed herself in front of a heavily-guarded Daniel Radcliffe out in public.
Recognised for playing Hogwarts student Lavender Brown, the one-time girlfriend of Ron Weasley, the actress recently spoke to Closer about her experience working in the Wizarding World and being pals with its main trio. "It's been 15 years [since she filled the role] – it's not like I'm WhatsApping Daniel Radcliffe! Although I do have such an embarrassing story," teased Cave, whose post-Potter credits include Black Mirror, Industry, and Tale of Tales.
"It wasn't that long after the Half-Blood Prince came out. Daniel was walking along the same street as me and, as you do when you see someone you're friends with, you shout their name – but it was different because he had two huge bodyguards with him.
"At the time I dressed quite eccentrically and I think the bodyguards thought I was trying to stampede Daniel – it was excruciating. We had a sweet chat and said bye... and then it turned out that we were walking the same way so I ended up following him," she further recalled. While they're not necessarily in contact these days, Cave did go on to shower her co-stars Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson with respect.
It comes after Radcliffe has admitted he went into "free fall" when the Harry Potter film franchise ended. However, his stunt double David Holmes - who was partially paralysed after a stunt test for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows went wrong - was on hand to help him.
Speaking in the Sky documentary David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived, the actor shared: "Personally there was definitely a period where I didn't know what was important to me, because at that point I was not convinced myself about what my life would be after Potter.
"I've been doing this thing really consistently and I had all that structure, and then all of a sudden that was gone and I very quickly went into free fall. It was something that I talked to Dave about and he was, as he always had been, a really good guiding star in all of that. He said 'I'm not going to let you throw the opportunity you've got away'.
"There was something about seeing somebody have their career taken away from them involuntarily, and I realised that you can't get complacent and like 'yea I'll be in this industry forever', because Dave was a constant point of comparison, subconsciously at least, to know how random and fleeting everything could be."
