Gogglebox star Pete McGarry's wife Linda says 'He was my life' as she confirms he died of cancer
Gogglebox star Pete McGarry's wife Linda has said "He was my life" in her first interview since his death.
The star of the Channel 4 TV show died at the weekend aged 71, and his family have now confirmed he was diagnosed with bowel cancer just days before his death and told he had six months to live.
Linda told The Sun: “Pete was a lovely man and I was so lucky to have him for 25 years.

“I said to him, ‘We’ve not only been 25 years, it’s been day and night with each other.' He was my life.
“I have a message from a young lad I know who said, ‘Ordinary people won’t be remembered, but we’ll remember Pete forever – like the pyramids.' I thought that was beautiful."
The couple – from Clacton in Essex – found fame in 2013 when they joined the second series of Gogglebox, along with Linda's son George Gilbey, who later went on to star in Celebrity Big Brother.
They appeared in 12 series of the TV commentary show up until last year, and Linda said Pete loved being recognised by fans and being asked for selfies.
Talking about their on-screen relationship, she said: “He was always taking the mickey out of me on the show and he was like that to the end.
“When he was really ill I asked him if he wanted me to sing to him and he wailed ‘Nooooo'.
“He had a marvellous sense of humour – when we were driving and I’d cut someone up he’d shout, ‘We’re lost’, he was so lovely. "
Linda has two grown-up sons, including George, while Pete had two daughters with his first with Sue, who passed away.
The couple have also fostered more than 100 children together.

Linda said: “I’ve had marvellous support from all the foster children. The phone has not stopped ringing. We fostered for 21 years and we looked after more than 100 kids.
“They’re all over the world. We’re so proud of what we’ve done for them and the successes they’ve all had.
