Friendly Pet Rabbit Steals the Hearts of Her Rescuers While Waiting for a Home in California

When you visit an animal shelter, you're bound to see mostly cats and dogs. In the springtime, kittens and puppies reign supreme, but sometimes, another breed of pet needs help, too. Some humane societies are able to care for rescued horses and livestock, while others have the space to care for rabbits like Carmen.

Carmen is a friendly and social bunny who loves nothing more than hanging out with people. She may be waiting in a shelter for her forever person to find her, but her friends at We Care Animal Rescue in Saint Helena, California, are determined to make sure that she doesn't have to wait long. And with such a sweet personality, she's sure to be adopted immediately! Take a look at her precious April 3 video.

OMG--what a gorgeous bunny! Carmen's jet-black fur makes her look so sleek and stunning, but it's her bouncy personality that's going to help her forever person fall in love. She may only have been in the animal shelter for a few days so far, but I'm almost surprised she wasn't adopted on the very same day.

Rabbits are popular pets, especially for kids or people who can't devote as much time as a dog or cat needs. They are docile, friendly, and curious, but they also require specific kinds of care. To raise a happy, healthy bunny, you'll need to put together a spacious rabbit hutch, find the correct food and enrichment objects, and even schedule a checkup with the veterinarian. And this is just the setup!

Rabbits are not low-maintenance pets, but it's easy to see how those who didn't think they would own a rabbit get sucked in with those precious little faces. It's a wonder how I don't fall for every pet rabbit I could adopt!

Why Do Rabbits Twist When They Hop?

Did you see the way she was jumping for joy in that very short, very last, clip? Too sweet! When bunnies repeatedly jump in an excited, twisted way like that, it's actually called a binky. In a way, it's like a rabbit's version of zoomies!

Wild rabbits, game rabbits, and pet rabbits have been observed performing a binky, and it only happens when the rabbit is happy.

If you're interested in adopting Carmen, you can reach out to We Care Animal Shelter via their website. This two-year-old is just one of dozens of pets looking for their perfect match in this area--and something tells me her perfect match isn't far away at all.
