Summer is coming, are you and your dog ready? While summer is a high point for dogs (more time for walks outside!), the heat can be challenging for some breeds. Like one Frenchie, who got a little overheated during a warm day and was hilariously loving it when his mom cooled him off.

This definitely wasn't the first time this happened, judging by the expert way the dog mama took control of the situation .

Right away she grabbed an ice packed and laid it on her French Bulldog, Blue's, chest.

"We're at grammie's and he got just a little too excited. He's overheated," she explained in the clip. Blue's eyes were red, the tips of his ears were "pipping hot," and he was panting — a lot. He definitely had been having a little too much fun.

"It's okay buddy," his mama told him as she pressed the pack to him. Don't worry too much though. It really seemed like Blue was absolutely loving all the attention.

"Frenchies can over heat from the smallest of activities really fast, he's okay!!!" the dog mom added in the caption.

How to Recognize Heat Distress in Dogs

Frenchie are prone to getting overheated. So it's good to know the signs of when it's happening so you can catch it early. Heavy, rapid, or excessive panting is the first tip off. A rapid heart rate, drooling, vomiting or diarrhea, loss of coordination, lethargy, mental dullness, discolored tongue or gums, seizures, and collapsing or falling are all signs too.

Other Ways to Cool Frenchies Down

Thankfully it seems like the woman had it covered. But people in the comments section chimed in with even more ways to cool a warm dog down. "Rubbing alcohol on his paws with cool him down! I work at a vet and that’s what we do for dogs with fevers or the start of heatstroke," advised one commenter. "Also applying a cool compress under the arms helps too," someone else added. "Try a cooling mat, they make them for dogs. I have one for my dog and he loves it," one person advised. "We got our Frenchie a cooling collar, works like a charm!" added one person.

Just bringing your dog to an air conditioned room can do wonders, but if they're collapsing or losing consciousness you should take them to the emergency room — stat. These could be signs that something is seriously wrong and they need medical attention.
