Foster Kittens' Chaotic Playtime Is Full of Lovable Energy

Anyone who's fostered a pet can tell you that it's a challenging but rewarding experience. True, it can be difficult for everyone to adjust to the new living arrangements, but it's completely worth it to know that you helped them meet their forever owner. Whether they're with you for a few days or a few months, every foster pet will hold a special place in your heart.

It takes a patient and selfless person to foster a rescue pet, but it takes an especially tolerant person to foster an entire family of animals. Fortunately, there are many people who are up for the task.

On April 28, the Southern Arizona Cat Rescue shared a video of a litter of foster kittens indulging in playtime. It's so special to see rescue kittens growing up feeling so safe, but even the sight of these little ones playing could turn any frown upside down.

OMG--I could watch this video on repeat for an hour, and I still don't think it would get old. These kittens dart around as if they're made of pure energy, and at 4 weeks old--they basically are.

Young kittens like these babies don't do much besides eat, sleep, and play, which is definitely keeping both their foster mom and their kitty mom busy. Luckily, their cuteness and entertainment completely make up for it!

As fun as raising kittens can be for owners, and maybe even mother cats, it's also a ton of work. Keeping up with feeding scheuldes is easier with help around, but like the cat rescue mentions in the video description, "Momma is looking forward to getting spayed soon and never having babies again."

How Spaying & Neutering Saves Lives

Animal advocates have been urging pet owners to spay and neuter their pets for decades, but sometimes it takes seeing the chaos of kitten litters to realize why this is so important. Not only is motherhood exhausting for a cat who has to raise kittens over and over, but it also puts dozens more cats into the world.

This video shows at least four kittens, but some cats have litters as large as nine. It can be a challenge for mama cats to nurse and care for litters that large, but luckily, fewer and fewer female cats are being stuck in a cycle of repetitive breeding. Rescue organizations, animal shelters, and vet clinics that assist with neutering and spaying feral cats are saving many, many lives.

If you want to do your part to help save animals like this litter of kittens, please consider rescuing your next pet. You just may meet an adorable kitten just like one of these babies!
