No matter how well-behaved your dog may be, you always have to keep an eye on them. They can still get in a whole mess of trouble. No one knows this better than Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, who recently had to rush his beloved rescue Miss Peaches to the emergency vet over a health scare.

It's the trip that no pet owner wants to make. Portnoy still looked shaken up as he and Miss Peaches waited to be seen.

As Portnoy explained, Miss Peaches got into a packet of Ice Breakers gum. And well..gum and puppy tummies just don't mix.

"Me and Miss Peaches are in the emergency room. She ate gum!" Portnoy said to the camera. "I didn't even know it was that dangerous. Now they gotta keep her here for 48 hours."

You wouldn't exactly know Miss Peaches was in trouble by how she was acting, however. Portnoy joked that Miss Peaches was acting like she was in "summer camp."

Later in the caption, Portnoy explained that they made Miss Peaches regurgitate the gum before they kept watch over her. He may have shed a tear or two over his very brave little girl.

Every rescue has had their good and bad days. And Portnoy has sure been through his fair share since he adopted Miss Peaches back in February. For the most part, Miss Peaches has been a sweet, lovable pup. But she's had her moments.

Like the time that she totally destroyed Portnoy's wallet — not the best scene to come home to we're sure. Or the time she stole his Starbucks cup and took off with it, while it was still full. Okay, so she needed a little training. Those moments of naughty behavior didn't outweigh how sweet and good the dog normally is.

People in the comments section just wanted Miss Peaches to get better. "The sweetest girl. Get well soon Miss Peaches and no more gum," wrote one person. "Awe, Dave crying at the end… Miss Peaches is going to be ok," someone else chimed in. "OMG I know you will take good care of her. Miss Peaches nooo take care love," a third person added.

Thankfully, it seems like everything will be a-okay. In an update, Portnoy assured his followers that Miss Peaches is doing much better.

"The good news is the vet told me we caught it early and Miss Peaches will be fine," he wrote in the thread. "Holding her is just a precaution. It’s still heartbreaking but she handled it like a queen."
