Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? viewers were celebrating for a popular contestant on Sunday night who won a whopping £125,000.

Edinburgh taxi driver Ray Mann took home the life-changing amount of money after playing a level-headed game, managing to keep his cool even when host Jeremy Clarkson almost led him to the wrong answer.

In the final episode of the series, Mann was hovering just below the £64,000 question as he struggled over which film Meryl Streep had played a fictional character in, but could have dropped back down to £32,000 due to a miscommunication with Clarkson.

He was trying to decide whether Streep had played a fictional character in The Post or The Hours and used his Ask the Host lifeline - but Clarkson almost halved his potential prize fund.

Presenter Clarkson said: "I'm 99.9 per cent certain The Post is a real life film with real life people.

"It's your £31,000 but if I were sitting there I would definitely take a punt on The Post, and that is my final answer."

Luckily, Clarkson and Mann both realised he had become confused over the wording of the question and got the right answer, sending him on his way to his £125,000 prize.

Mann also struck lucky with a question about Julian Fellowes, as he explained the Downton Abbey creator had once been a passenger in the back of his cab.

Eventually, he decided to bow out over the £250,000 question over which country shared the longest land border with Germany, learning that it was Austria and not the answer he would have guessed, Poland.

Fans of the show cheered him on as he said that he planned to use some of the money to take his wife on a nice holiday.

The show also saw another big winner with a primary school teacher who bagged £125,000 too, although one contestant dropped £7,000 after guessing an answer while she still had lifelines left, leaving with just £1,000.
