Rising to overnight fame on The Traitors, the reality star has already hooked the attention of the audience with his big personality and humorous comments. Among the group of faithfuls and traitors on The Traitors, it was revealed he is the most popular person. However, it is no secret that Gorton had been on TV before The Traitors.
More than a decade has gone by since his Deal Or No Deal appearance in 2010 but Gorton shared a story on his run in with the TV host Edmonds and how he said he could kick him off the show in a recent Chatabix podcast. The traitor relived the moment that the TV host playfully scolded him for holding up filming because he needed the toilet.
He said on comedian Joe Wilkinson's podcast: "Noel goes: 'Paul, if you disrupt the show again I'm going to kick you off the show and replace you with someone else.' Everyone around did a few seconds of nervous laughter and then went 'ooo' and I thought I could just hold it, but worried I might actually p*** myself. So I'm like, "I'm so sorry I really need to go." I think it was a joke, but also not do it again."
At the tender age of 22 when he was living at home with his mum in Warrington, Gorton had appeared on the show with box number 16. Even now, Gorton remembered how desperate he was to use the toilet and he shared his fears of TV host Edmonds. "I'm petrified of Noel, he has my life in the palm of his hands. He's not bantering with us too much, it's short and respectful and you don't really banter back," he said.
Gorton added: "I've held it in for this show, and then I'm bursting, but you know when you hold it too long and it comes out faster and harder and there's a bit of a sting. Next time you want a wee you can't hold it that long, the seal is broke, you can't do three hours of holding and then another three hours. Half an hour into the next show I need a wee again, but I can't hold it and I'm really squeezing."
He had made great efforts on Deal or No Deal, having had hopes of walking away with the top cash prize and a modelling contract. Fast forward, the star now has starred on The Traitors and works as a business manager in his day job.
Gorton was one of the original traitors picked out by TV host Claudia Winkleman. Ahead of the show airing, he said: "It'll have to be a house. For myself, my partner, our little boy and our dog - I need to get us all a house. We’re renting at the moment and mortgage rates are just chaos, so if I can win the show or be part of a group of people that win the show then that is life changing for us."
He added: "The family, the house, nothing glamorous really, there's no cars, parties or holidays, it’s: we need a roof over our heads and then that will set us up for the rest of our lives. Or a Ferrari..."
