Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick heartbroken after death of dog who was his 'best friend'

Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick has said his heart is “truly broken” after the death of his dog Keira.

The vet and TV star said Keira had been his “best friend in the whole wide world” and that her legacy would go on.

Sharing a picture of his beloved pooch on Instagram, he wrote: “It is with profound sadness I share the news that Keira, my beloved companion of nearly 14 years, has passed away.

“My heart is truly broken. She was my best friend in the whole wide world.

“My friend Amy and her son Kyle are broken-hearted too since they have shared her guardianship with me all this time.

“We were so very blessed and lucky to have had her in our lives, lighting the way with her magnificent unconditional love.”

Fitzpatrick said they were lucky to have “been gifted magical further time” with Keira after she nearly died when she was hit by a van last year.

“I am so thankful for your kind wishes and support at that difficult time and for the incredible love you have shown us,” he said.

“I know that she touched many lives with her light. With great love comes great pain, but her love will be inside me forever.

“She inspired everything I do for animals and her legacy will be eternal.”

Fitzpatrick said he would “pay full tribute” to Keira after he had had some time to grieve.

“Thank you my beautiful baby girl,” he said. “I give you back to the starlight. You are forever by my side. I love you beyond what words can say.”

Fans flocked to the comments section to express their condolences after the presenter shared his sad loss.

“So very sorry. I know the pain you are going through when you lose your soul mate,” said one, while another posted: “It’s heart-breaking when they have to leave us.”

“We are so sorry to see this post, Noel,” said another.

“Everyone who ever heard about you knew about Keira too, and the love you two shared. Someone once said that grief is just love that has nowhere to go. Rest in peace, sweet Keira.”
