Watch: Stacey Solomon looks back on her singing career

What did you miss?

Stacey Solomon has revealed she still loves to sing, but only for her family.

The Sort Your Life Out presenter found fame 15 years ago as a singer on The X Factor but now admits she doesn't like the pressure of performing live in front of an audience.

Appearing on This Morning to discuss her new Channel 4 series Stacey Solomon's Renovation Rescue, the TV presenter and DIY queen shared that she still loves singing and that her family "wheel me out on special occasions" to perform just for them.

What, how, and why?

On This Morning, Ben Shephard asked Solomon — who placed third in the 2009 singing competition — if she still sings now she is better known for being a TV presenter. Solomon said: "Only for my grandma at the care home, at her request, she loves a sing song."

She went on: "Do you know what, Ben? I love singing, but I love singing with no pressure with no sort of like worry or fear that if someone's going to like it or not. I just love doing it for me.

"So I sing for my family and whenever they wheel me out, I'm like one of them, you know when dad goes 'My daughter can sing! She'll sing.' They wheel me out on special occasions and I'll do it."

Solomon confessed she never expected when she auditioned for The X Factor 15 years ago that she would achieve such a successful TV career.

She said: "I feel exactly the same. It's weird because the other day I was thinking about X Factor and what an incredible experience that was and how I never really imagine going any further than that. I remember saying to my mum, If this is it, great! It was so incredible. I just never imagined myself even to get to have that experience.

"To think that was 15 years ago blows my mind. I never thought I'd still have a job or be working in [TV] so I feel really lucky. And I know people say 'It's not luck' But it is. I work really hard and I'll give my everything to any opportunity that's given to me. But I'm lucky to even get those opportunities in the first place, so every day I feel really lucky."

After The X Factor Solomon went on to win I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! in 2010. She then met husband Joe Swash when they worked together on spin-off show I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! NOW! in 2016.

As a musician, she released three singles and one album 'Shy', which peaked at number 45 the album chart in 2015.

Solomon revealed that husband Swash has a very "gung ho" attitude to DIY.

She said of her new show Renovation Rescue: "We were filming at the house because they wanted to show me some of the things that I do at home DIY-wise. So we started knocking down a wall and building a wall in the garage that I was turning into a gym. And they said, 'Why don't we get Joe involved? That would be really nice to have you both doing it together.'

"And I said, 'At your peril!' And he came in with a giant mallet and the health and safety woman was like, 'Woah, Woah, Woah! Where's the googles?! Where's your steel toes [cap boots]?' And everyone was having a right flap, because hes just gung ho. He don't check anything."

Stacey Solomon's Renovation Rescue airs Channel 4 at 9pm on Wednesdays.

This Morning airs on ITV1 from 10am, Monday to Friday.
