Watch: Sinead O'Connor admitted to hospital days after teenage son's death

Sinead O’Connor has been taken to hospital following the death of her son.

The singer, 55, shared the update on Twitter after posting a string of worrying messages that left fans concerned.

She told fans that she felt “lost” without 17-year-old Shane, who took his own life this month.

“I am with cops now on way to hospital,” O’Connor wrote.

“I’m sorry I upset everyone. I am lost without my kid and I hate myself. Hospital will help a while.”

She later followed up with another tweet, which said: "I’m sorry for what I tweeted yesterday. I’m very upset. My son was the love of my life. I am sorry I’ve upset tusla and just about every other human being on earth also. I am ruined without my son. I am sorry I’ve upset anyone. I’m a t***."

The 'Nothing Compares 2 U' singer confirmed the tragic death of her son – whose full name was Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor - on January 8.

She tweeted that he had “decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God”.

Calling her son the “very light of my life”, O’Connor went on: “May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example.

"My baby. I love you so much. Please be at peace.”

The Irish singer has since said that the teenager was under the care of several state mental health services and claimed that he was on suicide watch when he went missing from a hospital shortly before his death.

O’Connor – who also uses the name Shuhada Sadaqat after converting to Islam in 2018 – is also mum to son Jake with music producer John Reynolds, daughter Roisin with journalist John Waters and 15-year-old son Yeshua with businessman Frank Bonadio.
