Pregnant Stacey Solomon may have home birth because of COVID

Stacey Solomon has revealed she is thinking about having a home birth because of COVID.

The Loose Women star – who is expecting a baby girl – shared that as well as her concerns about the virus itself, if she gives birth in hospital she wouldn’t be able to have her mum with her.

She told the Standard her mum was at her side when she gave birth to all three of her sons and that she feels like she needs her there.

Explaining that she and fiancé Joe Swash are looking at a home birth, Solomon said: “I wouldn’t be able to have my mum there, my mum has been there for every other birth, which sounds sad because I am 31 years old but I feel like she won’t let me die and she has always been there.”

The star said she felt a home birth would lessen the COVID risk but that on the other hand there is the risk that she would need to be taken into hospital if there was an emergency.

Solomon, who is thought to be due in late September or early October, said she is "trying to weigh up those options".

“I feel like, Joe won’t be able to come in until the last minute, mum won’t be there, there is the risk of getting COVID… I don’t know how comfortable I feel,” she added.

The TV star announced in June that she and Swash were expecting their second child together after suffering miscarriages.

The couple already share two-year-old son Rex and Solomon is mum to sons Zachary, 13, and Leighton, nine, from previous relationships.

Swash has son Harry from a former relationship.
