Next week on 'Emmerdale': Jimmy is sent to prison? Plus Gabby bonds with Noah, Liv feels overwhelmed (spoilers)
Emmerdale is withholding much of its spoiler information for the week of the 13-16 July, so that viewers don’t learn too much in advance about the aftermath of the murder committed by Meena.
What I am allowed to reveal is that Jimmy King is still in the land of the living, but he might not be at liberty for too much longer as the prospect of prison looms large.
“He believes that he has slim to no chance,” says star Nick Miles about Jimmy’s trial drama. “The first day in court goes really badly. Jimmy’s basically terrified and he freezes and ends up thinking that the jury hates him.”
And as he prepares for the worst, wife Nicola can’t help but worry that he’s given up. “Nicola knows him better than anyone and I think she’s just about right. Jimmy can’t see a way forward from this,” adds the actor.

But just when he’s at his lowest point, along comes Mandy with a speech she’s made in Jimmy’s favour that she’s prepared for the judge. Overcome with gratitude, Jimmy responds by leaning in clumsily for a kiss. But the surprise snog is set to leave him feeling instantly regretful.
“He feels completely guilty afterwards,” reveals Miles. “Yes, he might have feelings for Mandy but, at this point, he’d have feelings for an ice-cream seller who gave him extra sprinkles. He’s bowled over by anyone who shows him any act of kindness.”
Later on, an oblivious Nicola tries to make Jimmy see that his flustered testimony was that of an honest man rather than a practised liar. But with the kiss with Mandy having left him racked with guilt, Jimmy ends up rejecting Nico’s positivity before opting to pack for prison. But will he be found guilty? And how would Jimmy cope with incarceration?
“I don’t know how anyone copes behind bars. But Jimmy is a survivor and I guess he’d bounce back. In the past, he’s been shot and stabbed and he’s survived…”
And then there’s the not-insignificant matter of Jimmy and Nicola’s marriage – does Miles believe that they have a future together?
“I really don’t know. How often can she take him back? This needs to be a question for Nicola [Wheeler]. Will she still want him after everything?
“But if the writers did split them up, I’d be bereft. I love working with Nicola. It’s been great fun working with Lisa Riley [who plays Mandy] as well, but Jimmy and Nicola have had such a long partnership. I’d definitely miss it.”
Meanwhile, in other Emmerdale news for next week:
