Next week on 'Coronation Street': Pat Phelan's shock 'return', plus Imran's ex-wife Sabeen drops a bombshell (spoilers)
It’s lawyers (and exes) at war as Imran takes on his former spouse Sabeen at Kelly and Corey’s trial. Plus Maria is left traumatised when Liam falls ill and Todd is left ashen faced when he finds some unsavoury ashes.
It’s your spoiler guide to Coronation Street for the 23-27 August, 2021.
Imran faces his ex-wife in court
Imran gets a blast from the past when his ex-wife Sabeen turns up with news that she’s the barrister on Corey’s defence team and that he doesn’t stand a chance of securing Kelly’s acquittal.
Later in the week, news breaks that Tommy Orpington has been lined up as a character witness for Corey. But the trial is then thrown into jeopardy when Corey is named on a fansite for the Weatherfield County star – a development that leads to Imran seeking to delay the court proceedings.

By Friday, Imran is given fresh food for thought when Kelly and Corey are offered a reduced plea to manslaughter. But Kelly still can’t help fretting to Simon that she fears being locked up for life.
Maria’s son Liam is hospitalised
While playing football out on the Street, young Liam starts gasping and is left unable to breathe. After being taken to the hospital, mum Maria learns that Liam has asthma and that traffic fumes are a common cause of the condition.
Deciding that Underworld’s van is responsible, Maria insists Sarah take it off the road. But when Sarah refuses, she’s left shocked by Maria’s rash reaction.
Todd makes a grim discovery about Pat Phelan
Something I don’t think anyone expected to hear was the name “Pat Phelan” being uttered again. But as Todd conducts a thorough clear-out of the storeroom at the undertakers’, he makes a grim discovery: the ashes of the notorious serial killer.
As George tries to hide his uneasiness, an outraged Todd lets rip about Phelan’s remains still being on the premises. George admits that he’s never found the right moment to tell Eileen about them. But what will Todd now do about this grim find?
Has Jenny missed her chance?
Ronnie will be seen presenting Rovers landlady Jenny with some flowers, but she levels with him and admits that she’s not ready to be swept off her feet. However, Daisy – who could never be accused of letting the grass grow under her feet – tells Jenny to just admit she fancies him and crack on.
By Friday, Johnny has also given Jenny his blessing, conceding their marriage is over and that they now need to look to the future. But after so much procrastinating, has Jenny left to too late where Ronnie is concerned?
Grace plans her future
Ronnie advises Michael to come clean to Grace and admit that he doesn’t love her. Knowing he’s right, Michael decides to do so, despite knowing that the fallout will be horrible.
And indeed, Grace reacts badly, packing her bags and making immediate plans to move to Hull. Refusing to let her do a flit with her grandchild, Aggie blocks the exit.
But Grace declares that she will only remain in Weatherfield if the Baileys give her the house they’ve recently bought at auction and which they'd been intending to renovate.
