Neighbours has unveiled its trailer for its much anticipated final episode.

With the long-running Australian soap ending on 29 July, various past stars are returning to the soap to say goodbye.

Most notably, Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan will be reprising their roles as beloved couple Charlene and Scott.

They can be seen in the brief teaser trailer sitting on a car wrapped in an embrace. The words "will they get their happy ever after?" then appear on the screen.

The soap launched the careers of Minogue and Donovan, with the former going on to become one of the biggest pop stars in the world who also appeared in films such as Street Fighter and Holy Motors.

A number of other stars are also returning to the soap including Guy Pearce who appeared in Neighbours before becoming a Hollywood star with roles in films such as LA Confidential, Memento and The Time Machine.

Margot Robbie is also set to make an appearance after she originally appeared on the soap between 2008 and 2011 as Donna Freedman before moving to America.

Anne Charleston is also set to reprise her role as Madge Bishop despite the character dying in 2001.

Also in the trailer for the finale is Harold Bishop, Neighbours' most famous character who has appeared in the soap since 1987.

In the clip, he can be heard saying: “It certainly feels like the end of an era” before he is seen in person adding: “It all goes so quickly.”

Channel 5 announced earlier this year that they would cease broadcasting Neighbours in the UK with the soap needing a new British broadcaster to continue filming.

Despite attracting around 1.5 million viewers per episode, no new broadcaster was found and it was announced in March that the show would end this summer as it was no longer financially viable.

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 6pm on Channel 5 and streams on My5. The series finale will air in the UK on July 29 at 9pm on Channel 5.
