Atomic Kitten's Natasha Hamilton had breakdown after birth of daughter

Natasha Hamilton has revealed she had a “full breakdown” and received psychiatric care after having her fourth child.

The Atomic Kitten star, 38, said she had some mental health issues and "lost the plot a little bit" after splitting from her husband Riad Erraji — the father of her third son — in 2013.

Then the following year she had a breakdown after giving birth to Ella, her daughter with Five star Ritchie Neville.

She said on the Mindkite podcast: “When I had my little girl I had a full breakdown and I was under the care of a mental health team, the care of a psychiatrist."

"It was then I was just like, 'We can’t keep doing this Tash. You need to sort your s*** out'," the singer went on.

The star said she realised that being thrust into the limelight when she was just 16 had had a huge impact on her, as she missed out on a normal life for many of her formative years and didn't really know who she was.

After her breakdown, she said she took "baby steps" towards getting herself back on track.

As well as Ella, Hamilton shares 18-year-old son Josh with former flame Fran Cosgrave and 16-year-old Harry with dancer Gavin Hatcher. She and Erraji share their 11-year-old son Alfie.

Hamilton is now engaged to Charles Gay, her boyfriend of five years.

The singer joined Atomic Kitten in 1999 alongside Kerry Katona and Liz McClarnon. The band made a name for themselves with songs such as Whole Again, Eternal Flame and Love Doesn’t Have To Hurt.
