We love Aldi as much as the next person, the only problem is that sometimes trying to get your hands on their special buys is as difficult as trying not to cry during The Notebook (read: it's impossible).

Recently we raved about their affordable heated clothes airer - a quick, easy and cost-effective way of ensuring your clothes could dry even when it was too cold or wet to have a clothes line outside.

Predictably, it's now sold out, but we've found an alternative (and it's even more cost-effective): the Heated Airer with Wings from Dunelm.

Why we rate it:

For only £40, the clever heated airer sure is one of the most affordable designs we've seen.

Designed with fold out wings for extra drying space, this heated airer allows you to dry your clothes quickly and has a low energy consumption.

It means that you don't need to play guess work with the weather or worry about how much money it costs to run a tumble dryer and space isn't an issue either: simply fold it up and put it away when you're done.

What the reviews say:

With over 100 five star reviews, it's fair to say the airer has been tried, tested and exceeded expectations.

  • "Folds up to store away easily. Takes quite a few minutes to heat up but yes it does as it says. It does take up quite a bit of space."

  • "Contrary to many reviews, it does exactly what I expected. It heats up, therefore it dries clothes... Uses far less energy than a tumble drier so is better for all of us. And considering the fact that energy prices are going through the roof and not likely to come down again it is a wise investment."

  • "I wish I had one of these for every member of my five family (three teenagers)! Except we share one and it works like a complete charm. Brilliant, brilliant product!"

  • "Great airer, heats up quite hot and gets clothes dry much quicker than a non heated airer, preventing that musky smell as the water evaporates with the heat."

  • "Fantastic item couldn't live without it now. Works a treat!!"
