Megan Fox experienced 'own personal hell' on ayahuasca trip with boyfriend Machine Gun Kelly

Megan Fox says she ‘experienced her own personal hell’ and an 'ego death' after taking the hallucinogen ayahuasca with boyfriend Machine Gun Kelly.
The couple, who celebrated their one-year anniversary last month, took a trip to Costa Rica to take the psychotropic drug, which is known for its hallucinogenic properties.
However, speaking to Arsenio Hall on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, 35-year-old Fox revealed that part of the three-night experience was far from pleasurable for her.

“The second night I went to hell for eternity," Fox explained, "and just knowing eternity is like torture in itself because there’s no beginning, middle or end. So you have a real ego death.”
“It just goes straight into your soul and takes you into your psychological prison you hold yourself in," Fox explained. "It’s your own version of hell. And I was definitely there.”
Fox detailed that she and MGK — real name Colson Baker — had to first experience a ‘vomitivo’ where they had to drink lemongrass tea until they were sick, and they had to vomit a certain amount before moving on to the next stage.
“It’s such a good bonding experience,” she said. “That gets you ready to go into the ceremony that night because you’re like, my vanity is gone, I’ve just done this in front of all of these strangers, and now I’m ready to really open up.”

When Fox did progress to drinking the ayahuasca brew, the star took the drink over three executive nights, but the second evening was by far the worst.
She added: “It was incredibly intense. Everybody’s journey is different.
Her time taking the psychedelic was far from what she imagined it would be, having previously explained to Hall that she was expecting a "five-star experience".
“We were in the middle of the jungle, and I was thinking, because of the place we went there’s a lot of people like, I don’t know if LeBron James has ever gone, but it’s a place where you’re like ‘these kinds of people go here to do ayahuasca’.
"So I was thinking it was like glamping, or something like that, some kind of five-star experience. You get there and you really are in the middle of the jungle. You don’t get to eat after, like, 1pm. You have to walk a long distance.
"You can’t shower because they’re in a drought and you need to respect the rainforest. Nothing glamorous about it. It’s all part of making you vulnerable so you surrender to the experience.”
Ayahuasca trips is often referred to as a “little death” thanks to the intense, near-death experience those who take the drink have.

It is illegal in a lot of countries, including the UK and the US, but early testing suggests that it could also have positive benefits for brain and psychological health.
However, during ayahuasca ceremonies, participants often experience vomiting, diarrhea, paranoia, and panic.
In some cases, it could also be deadly, with bad reactions with medication and inducing manic episodes in those with schizophrenia.
Regardless, many celebrities advocate for it after their own experiences, with Chelsea Handler, Jim Carrey, Lindsay Lohan and Sting all calling it a ‘profound moment in their lives’.
