He explained: “Somebody's going to have to teach me, I have to learn. When I do my songs I move obviously but you don't really know what you're doing. To be judged on this show is actually exciting to me. I've got butterflies for the first time in three decades.”

The 'When Will I Be Famous' singer added: “I’m excited, I’m nervous. You have the conversation and then you go about your day and you think, ‘I’ve got to dance.’ I’m eating everything that’s favourable to Spandex. I’ve got to make sure it’s alright, I’m excited.”

Appearing for his reveal in a lime green suit and large trilby, he also said: "I’m optimistic because I’m very supple from the knees down...I can't even look at clips of Strictly right now because I'm so terrified."
