Kristen Bell has confessed she took magic mushrooms in a bid to combat depression and husband Dax Shepard made sure she stayed safe while tripping
The Frozen star — who has two daughters eight-year-old Lincoln and six-year-old Delta with the 46-year-old actor — has battled depression for 22 years and tried everything from antidepressants to mindfulness to therapy.
Bell told the HypochondriActor podcast how she read Michael Pollan's book How to Change Your Mind in which he claims psychedelic drugs can have a positive effect on mental health.
The 40-year-old actor said: "I really wanted to try some psilocybin and feel what kind of doors open, have a trip that was my own.

"I am very lucky to be married to an ex-drug addict. Not only did he know where to get the mushrooms … he got that really nice, quality, organic, set and setting, beautiful mushroom. And then he … babysat me."
Bell went on: "I said, 'I really would like to experience this. And I don't want to, I'm not going to party with it, but I want to know what this feels like.
"And I want to talk while I'm doing it, and I want you to talk to me.' And he took me on a walk around the neighbourhood and it was so lovely."
The Good Place star also also revealed she had an 'out of body experience' and saw herself as "this beautiful lady" and felt full of self-love.
She explained: "In my head, I had separated this body that had done so much good in my life, that has taken me through happiness and pain and workouts and laziness that I was just like, couldn't stop touching my legs going, 'You're so strong. You're so elegant.'"
The actor said her depression "comes in waves" but she feels she is currently in a much better place.

Bell and Shepard began dating in 2007 but agreed not to get married until same-sex marriage was legalised in California.
After section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act was ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court on June 26, 2013, Bell proposed to Shepard on Twitter and they married in October 2013.
