Katie Price has called UK entrant James Newman's nil points effort at Eurovision "funny" and said the UK committee should sign her up again for next year.

The TV star and glamour model posted a video to her Instagram stories of her evening in watching the Eurovision Song Contest with fiance Carl Woods, which saw UK act James Newman place last as the only entrant to receive the dreaded nil points.

But Price, who was celebrating her 43rd birthday on Saturday, laughed off the bad score and said the UK might have had a chance if they put her forward instead - although Woods was unconvinced as he joked about the pink latex outfit she wore for her own UK Eurovision act bid in 2005 where she lost out to Javine Hylton.

Price said: "They should have had me on Eurovision and not Javine and then I might have been on that stage, we might have got a point, but never mind."

As Newman was told he'd received zero points from both the judges and the public votes, Price said: "That's actually funny. I reckon they should put me up to do Eurovision in a black catsuit this time. I'd smash it.

"Ah, that's United Kingdom. I don't know why he's happy, he's lost."

But Woods, who looked less interested in Eurovision, was scathing about his wife-to-be's chances of Eurovision glory.

He said: "I just can't believe that there's a geezer that's done worse than you on this programme."

Price asked: "What do you mean 'worse than me'?"

Woods replied: "There's a geezer on here who's just got zero points and done worse than you, and he weren't even wearing a ridiculous pink outfit."

Lorraine Kelly was more sympathetic to Newman, tweeting: "Poor poor James - wasn’t the best song but absolutely not the worst. #Eurovision hope he’s OK."

But Jack Whitehall joked: "If the Corona Virus entered an act they’d get more points than the UK. #Eurovision"
