John Barrowman's husband says the actor has been "viciously attacked by trolls" after admitting to exposing himself to colleagues.
Former Doctor Who star Barrowman has been caught up in controversy after Noel Clarke was accused of sexual misconduct.
A video has emerged of Clarke joking at a convention about Barrowman exposing his penis “every five seconds” on the Doctor Who set and “hitting it on everything”.
Barrowman's husband of 14 years Scott Gill wrote on Instagram: "It’s been a ‘challenging' 3 weeks for both of us, watching @JohnScotBarrowman get hounded in the press & viciously attacked by trolls, but mostly it’s been amazing how many wonderful people have rallied around in support."

He went on: "To all of you who have sent us lovely messages - THANK YOU! A special shout out goes to the true hero of the story : Gareth David-Lloyd who selflessly ran into the burning building to save his buddy John Barrowman. Gareth - You’ll get a big kiss from me too when I see you! #TrueLoyalty #MyHero."
Barrowman's Torchwood co-star Gareth David-Lloyd spoke out in support of the 54-year-old Scottish-American actor.
David-Lloyd told Metro.co.uk: "In my experience on Torchwood John‘s behaviour on set was always meant to entertain, make people laugh and keep their spirits and energy high on what were sometimes very long working days.
"It may be that because we were so close as a cast that professional lines were sometimes blurred in the excitement – I was too inexperienced to know any different but we were always laughing.
"The John I knew on set would have never behaved in a way he thought was affecting someone negatively. From what I know of him that is not his nature."
Barrowman has also spoken out to thank fans for their support.
Posting a video on Instagram, the Dancing On Ice judge said: “Hi everybody, it’s John here and I just want to say thank you very much to all of my fan family and everybody who has reached out with the countless messages of support over the last few weeks.
“It has meant such a great deal to me and has really touched me to know that people are supporting me and standing by me and sending their love and all of their appreciation and kind words.”

Last month Barrowman, who played Captain Jack Harkness in Doctor Who and Torchwood, was removed from an interactive Doctor Who experience due to the controversy.
