Watch GMB's Ranvir Singh thanks hypnotist Paul McKenna for TV success
What did you miss?
Good Morning Britain's Ranvir Singh has thanked hypnotist Paul McKenna for helping her become a TV presenter. The newsreader and show host revealed she credited her career in front of the camera after listening to the self-help author after one of his books made her presenting debut such a success.
What, how, and why?
McKenna was a guest on the ITV breakfast show and host Susanna Reid revealed to him that her co-presenter Singh, 46, might not be in the studio if it wasn't for him. Singh - who now stands in as host of GMB and Lorraine and has and made it to the semi-final of Strictly Come Dancing - explained she had listened to McKenna's I Can Make You Confident on audiobook leading up to her first time presenting the local news.
Reid told the hypnotist: "We know that our Ranvir would not be here presenting if it was not for you Paul McKenna."
Singh explained: "It was back in the day when you had the CD on in the background "'I'll make you confident' and there was a rota mix-up at BBC North West Tonight, the regional TV I work on, and there were three presenters all off. I thought 'This is my moment to present the programme.' And I listened to it every night for a month - your voice counting back and as I walked into the studio that day I just thought ' I can do this, I can nail it!'
"And I just waltzed in. And I got a round of applause from the crew and everybody! It was weird. But it really worked and I really do thank you for that. I really do."
Mckenna replied: "Thank you for telling me." He quipped: " I mean - you are the person I wrote it for!"
What else happened on Good Morning Britain?
Mckenna shared a mood-boosting visualisation exercise with Reid, co-host Ed Balls and viewers to help lift the January blues.
Balls confessed he had been surprised by McKenna. He told Reid: "Do you know what I saw - I saw you and me on Good Morning Britain. My ultimate self, in the environment I want to be with with the person I want to be with."
He then told McKenna: "The thing that was really important is it's not about stopping things. I thought we would talk about not smoking, or not eating too much, or not being upset or not speaking. But actually it's much more positive than that. It's about what you can do rather than what you're to stop doing."
Good Morning Britain airs on ITV from 6am-9am from Monday to Friday.
