Georgia power outage map: See where the power is out as Hurricane Idalia nears

Hurricane Idalia made landfall along Florida's Big Bend as a Category 3 storm Wednesday morning with sustained winds of 125 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Idalia is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds to south and coastal Georgia, including the Savannah area, on Wednesday.

The latest model from the National Weather Service shows the storm moving northeast through Florida after landfall, eventually reaching the southeastern part of Georgia.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp declared a state of emergency on Tuesday that is set to expire at 11:59 p.m. on Friday.

"We are taking every precaution ahead of Hurricane Idalia's landfall tomorrow, and I am taking this additional executive action to ensure state assets are ready to respond" Kemp said in a release. "Georgians in the expected impact area can and should take necessary steps to ensure their safety and that of their families. We are well positioned to respond to whatever Idalia may bring."

Over 150,000 power outages were reported in Florida as of 8:24 a.m. ET, with more expected as the storm makes its way through the state and heads toward Georgia.
