Gail Porter taunted over baldness by group of kids

Gail Porter has told how a group of youths verbally abused her for being bald as she stood outside a tube station.

The TV presenter and former model – who has alopecia and lost her hair suddenly in 2005 – told fans on Twitter that she found the behaviour “intimidating”.

She wrote: “Another huge gang of teenagers standing outside the tube tonight. Intimidating and abusive. So many stories of stabbings. Which part of these youngsters do not realise that violence solves nothing.

“And, I know I’m bald. You don’t have to shout it at me.”

Porter – who has an 18-year-old daughter – went on: “Ooh... if I was their mother! Slap on the heid kids!!!

“But... I always think, maybe they have not had the best upbringing.

"So kindness is always the answer x.”

The star, 50, later told her followers on Instagram that the incident didn’t make her feel any less proud of who she is.

“Getting abused by a gang of kids today about being bald, does not stop me being proud of being different,” she said.

She also restated her belief that “kindness always wins”.

Porter has previously said that her hair loss started with a “wee clump” and that within four weeks her long blonde locks were gone.

She told BBC Breakfast in 2018: “My main worry was what was my daughter was going to think of me because I was away working and when I got back, she thought I was very rock ‘n’ roll so I thought, 'OK, I’m going to have to just deal with this'.”
