A Quiet Place is turning its attention to the past, with the film franchise looking back to reveal how humanity came to be terrorised by the vicious, sonar monsters we have come to know in Part One and Part Two.

The movie is based on a story by John Krasinski and Michael Sarnoski, with Sarnoski stepping in to write and direct the feature. New details about the film have now been revealed, including a glimpse of what fans can expect from the prequel.

When is A Quiet Place: Day One being released in cinemas?

A Quiet Place: Day One is set to be released in cinemas on 28 June. The film's release date has been moved on multiple occasions as it was first set to come out on 31 March, 2023, then on 22 September 2023, and finally on 8 March before being given its June release.

A Quiet Place: Day One is led by Lupita Nyong'o, she will be joined by Djimon Hounsou and Stranger Things star Joseph Quinn. Nyong'o and Quinn are said to be playing characters called Sam and Eric, respectively.

Hounsou is reprising his role from A Quiet Place Part Two, known as "Man on the Island". The cast also includes Alex Wolff, Eliane Umuhire, Alexander John and Jennifer Woodward.

A Quiet Place parts one and two takes place over the course of several days from day 471 to day 477 since the alien creatures began their reign of terror. The prequel, like the title suggests, takes place on the first day of their attack, around a year and a half beforehand.

The film follows Nyong'o's Sam, and her fight for survival during the early days of the monster attack. The tagline for the movie is "experience the day the world went quiet" which suggests that the plot centres on the events of just one day.

Apart from this basic premise and tagline, details about the plot are being kept a secret and fans of the franchise will likely have to wait and see if more information will be revealed in due course — or even wait until they're able to watch it in cinemas.

Is there a trailer for A Quiet Place: Day One?

As much as we loved Mandy, the defining horror story of 2018 has to be A Quiet Place, a movie directed by Jim from The Office, starring Mary Poppins, that somehow managed to be one of the most intense cinematic experiences any of us have ever had. And any film that builds forcing audiences to shut up and pay attention into its premise is a masterpiece, as far as we’re concerned. It might lose some of its magic when we watch it at home, but A Quiet Place was the horror film to beat in terms of delivering sheer movie magic this year.

Yes, a trailer was revealed for A Quiet Place: Day One on Wednesday, 7 February. The teaser clip shows Nyong'o in character as the franchise monsters descend on the planet and begin attacking humanity in their droves.

Sam is seen travelling with Quinn's Eric in one moment, and also meeting Hounsou's character in another where he warns her to keep silent. When she coughs the sound acts as a signal to the creatures which run around outside their building as they wait for them to pass.
