Harry Styles, Ed Sheeran and Anne-Marie confirmed for Radio 1's Big Weekend 2022

Coventry is set to welcome a host of superstars including Harry Styles, Ed Sheeran, Anne-Marie and Calvin Harris as Radio 1's Big Weekend makes its return.

Styles is the latest headliner announced for Radio 1's flagship event which is back out in the field for the first time in two years, taking place over three days from 27 - 29 May, 2022.

Tickets have been on sale since March, but Styles fans may not need to miss out as a small number of tickets have been held back for his Friday show, which will go on sale on Monday, 25 April at 5pm at www.bbc.co.uk/backstage/bigweekend/.

Big Weekend begins the UK's festival season and is expected to welcome 80,000 music fans to Coventry's War Memorial Park.

Ed Sheeran said: "I can’t wait to kick off festival season and perform in front of a live audience at Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2022 in Coventry. See you all there!"

Anne-Marie added: "Can’t wait to be back on stage in front of actual humans for Radio 1’s Big Weekend this year! The show is gonna be really special."

Other acts confirmed for the festival on Saturday include Sam Fender, Sigrid, KSI and YUNGBLUD, with Sunday acts featuring George Ezra, Becky Hill, Foals, Charlie XCX and Lorde.

Sigrid said: "It’s not a secret that I absolutely love festivals, so this one will be special! Sick line up too, I can’t wait for the weekend!"

KSI added of his set: "Expect all the hits and maybe even a few surprises!"

The main stage will be hosted by Greg James, while Clara Amfo presents the Future Sounds stage.

Head of Radio 1 Aled Haydn Jones said: "We are kicking off the UK’s festival season in true Radio 1 style with an incredible line up of acts already on the bill, and more exciting names to be revealed this week. We can’t wait to bring our flagship live music event to Coventry for 2022."

Tickets are on sale and allocated with 60% going to Coventry residents, 25% to surrounding areas, and 15% available to the rest of the UK. More information is available at www.bbc.co.uk/backstage/bigweekend/.

Meanwhile, an exclusive Manic Street Preachers gig has been announced as part of the BBC 6 Music Festival which takes place at venues around Cardiff from Friday 1 - Sunday 3 April.

Camilla Pia, 6 Music assistant commissioner and festival producer, said: "Manic Street Preachers are the kings of visceral and fiercely brilliant live performances. We’re used to watching them play in arenas, so I’m thrilled that they’re giving our listeners the opportunity to be part of what promises to be a very special and extremely intimate gig in Clwb Ifor Bach as part of the 6 Music Festival.

"Legend has it they were billed to play there early in their career but never did. 6 Music is honoured to be part of the story in finally making that happen."
