EastEnders is set to welcome a new drag queen character this summer and has given viewers a first look at the forthcoming scenes.

The BBC One soap had already announced that the Baker clan was set to expand with the arrival of Mitch's brother Avery and his sons Felix and Finlay.

In first-look pictures, Tara Misu is seen wearing a blue bodycon minidress with fishnets while clasping a handbag in front of Albert Square’s famous road sign.

Morrison said: “I am blessed to have the opportunity to step into the heels of the fierce Tara Misu as part of my role on EastEnders.

“It’s a privilege to represent the LGBTQIA+ community and to showcase the creative art of drag to both viewers at home and the residents of Walford.”

Felix will be arriving in Walford alongside brother Finlay, played by Ashley Byam, and their dad Avery, played by soul singer Omar Lye-Fook who is best known for his hit 'There's Nothing Like This'.

They'll join Mitch (Roger Griffiths) on the Square, but as he's estranged from Avery, he's instantly suspicious of why his family have turned up.

When he was cast in EastEnders, Morrison said: “It's an honour to be a part of such a legendary show that I grew up watching. It hasn't quite sunk in yet, and I don't think it ever will. I'm having a ball getting to grips with Felix and cannot wait for you all to meet him!”

EastEnders also shared a video on its social media channels showing Matthew getting tips on his drag transformation from a former RuPaul’s Drag Race UK contestant.

Talking about joining the soap, Lye-Fook who plays Avery said: “I’ve been watching EastEnders since I was at school so it’s such a surreal experience to now be part of the show. I’m having so much fun and it’s an honour to be working alongside this incredible cast.”

Felix and the other Bakers are set to make their entrance later this summer.
