Millie Gibson was blown away while working with Ncuti Gatwa on the Doctor Who Christmas special.

Subtitled 'The Church on Ruby Road', this Christmas Day banger introduces Gibson's Time Lord companion Ruby Sunday as she and Gatwa's Fifteenth Doctor journey through time and space in the TARDIS for the very first time together.

During a recent interview with The Times, the ex-Coronation Street actress gave a glowing account of her co-star, who most readers will know from Sex Education.

"It was like a masterclass every day with Ncuti," claimed Gibson.

"There's a scene in the Christmas episode where I was watching him perform and I just started to cry. I wasn't even on camera, so it was a wasted performance.

"He's my Doctor now, and I think so many people will connect with him."

Away from wiping those tears, Gibson also explained how she's currently "bracing" herself for the wider fame that starring in Who brings.

"So many people have sat me down and said, 'Look, your life will change,'" she shared.

"It is hard to accept that. It's a baffling thing to be told, to be honest. The first part was actually doing the job, preparing for that. And then the second part will be preparing for when it comes out."

Meanwhile, at a press event earlier this month, Who showrunner Russell T Davies weighed in on casting Gibson for the role of Sunday and how it had everything to do with her work in Weatherfield.

"You can tell when writers like the character on a soap because they write a lot for them," he began.

"They give them a lot to do, and I was watching one episode of Coronation Street where Kelly, played by Millie, was a drug addict, and she kidnapped her own father, [and] at the same time she won regional hairdresser of the year, all in one episode.

"I literally was sat watching that thinking 'they like her'. Particularly when you get that many stories, something's going on."
