'Doctor Who' actor Tanya Fear's family grateful as she is found 'physically unharmed'

Doctor Who actor Tanya Fear has been found alive and has been taken to a local hospital for assessment.

The 31-year-old British actor and stand-up comedian – who played Dr Jade McIntyre in a 2018 episode of the BBC sci-fi series – had been missing for four days.

Fear's family, based in the UK, have said in a statement on Twitter: "It is with great pleasure and relief to report, that Tanya has been found safe, by police today.

"We understand she is not physically harmed, but as a precaution, is being assessed at a local hospital.

"We wish to thank the police, members of the public for their efforts in locating Tanya, as well as the outpouring of concern and support over the last several days.

"Tanya's family are relieved and extremely grateful."

The actor disappeared on 9 September in the Hollywood Bowl area of Los Angeles, California.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed in a statement that Tanyaradzwa 'Tanya' Fear had been found safe and her family had been notified.

Her mother Yvonne Marimo had told the MailOnline: "I want my daughter to be safe. I would appeal to her directly that, if she is reading this, to please get in touch with someone just to let us know that you are okay.

"We haven’t been able to reach anyone from the US Embassy in London yet and we are very keen to hear from them to find out what’s going on in Los Angeles."

Born Tanyaradzwa Fear and also known as Pauline Fear, the actor had been performing a series of stand-up comedy gigs in LA at venues including the HaHa Club and the Comedy Nook.

Friends shared the news she had been officially listed as an official Missing Person on social media and Doctor Who fans were been quick to help by retweeting and sharing the reports and pictures.

Her cousin Tendai said: "Tanya loves her Dr Who fans soooo much because of things like this!! Thank you for all your support."

The Doctor Who episode she appeared in, Arachnids In The UK, depicts giant spiders taking over the city of Sheffield.

She has since starred in a series of short films called Shoot Your Shot that she also wrote and directed.
