While the return of the world-famous Wimbledon tennis championship has offered a glimmer of hope that life is starting to get back to normal, social distancing measures mean there are less tickets available than usual.

But for the first time, those who miss out on tickets to watch the action IRL can order Wimbledon strawberries and cream direct to their homes as part of a £60 luxury hamper.

As well as the championship's iconic strawberries and cream, other goodies packed into the picnic hamper include sandwiches, scones and teacakes.

Home spectators hoping to recreate the food vibes of Wimbledon will also receive smoked salmon, ham, mustard, pickle and a granary loaf.

Picnic partakers can expect food of the highest quality, as organisers worked with British producers to ensure top notch ingredients.

"At The Championships, we pride ourselves on the quality of our food and drink, filling your picnic with passion and care," details about the home hamper reveal.

"We develop strong, long lasting relationships with award-winning British suppliers who search for the finest seasonal ingredients, so the picnic you enjoy from the comfort of your home will truly reflect the highest standards you would expect to see across Wimbledon."

The launch of the at-home picnic hamper follows the lead of Royal Ascot, which this year started sending “celebration packs”, including hampers, to racing fans.

The £15 kits included a sweepstake kit and hand flags for four, while hamper prices started at £89.50.

Wimbledon organisers aren't the only ones to launch an at-home package to help tennis fans celebrate.

If you're looking to push the boat out, Lanson champagne has teamed up with Wimbledon to offer a quintessentially English picnic basket.

Designed for two to share, and costing £125, the celebration picnic comes complete with a bottle of Lanson Le Black Label Brut and a pair of limited edition Wimbledon champagne flutes.

The menu also includes delicious treats such as Ritchie's of Rothesay smoked salmon with sourdough crumpets, coronation chicken parcels, 'Henman Hill' sweet onion and smoked cheese tart and buttered Jersey Royals with mint, pea, asparagus and radish salad and a soft boiled egg.

For an extra dollop of decadence, the picnic hamper also includes pink peppercorn shortbread fingers and Champagne Lanson chocolate truffles.

And of course, as any self-respecting Wimbledon fan will understand, no picnic celebrating the championship would be complete without strawberries and cream.

For a slightly less luxe option Morrisons' has also launched a limited edition Tennis Treats Box, containing everything tennis fans may need to host a Wimbledon party.

The box includes Pimm’s, strawberries and Cornish clotted cream, a bottle of lemonade, some fresh mint leaves, a packet of salt and vinegar crisps, a cucumber and an orange.

Customers will also receive a complimentary water bottle and a tournament chart to document the progress of the championship.

Costing £32, it is available for nominated day delivery by courier, with the delivery fee included in the price.
