Coronation Street's Maximus Evans has teased that viewers still don't know the full story of whether his character Corey Brent will face justice for murdering Seb Franklin.

Fans of the soap were disappointed by the recent murder trial which saw Corey seemingly get away with murder after being acquitted.

But Evans has said the storyline is far from over, hinting that Corey may still get his comeuppance for the attack on Nina Lucas and Seb which led to Seb's death.

In a discussion about the storyline, hate crime and identity, Evans said: "I feel like a lot of people especially on social media were upset at first with the result of the trial - rightly so, he should definitely have gone down for it - but it just adds that extra layer to the story.

"And it's not done, it's not over yet, we don't know what's going to happen."

The Corrie storyline was based on the real-life case of Sophie Lancaster, a 20-year-old who was murdered when a gang of boys attacked her and her boyfriend for their Goth appearance as they walked home through a park.

Evans and his co-star Millie Gibson who plays Kelly Neelan, sentenced to life in prison for the murder despite trying to stop Corey's attack, said that the impact of the tragic story had brought a whole new generation of fans to the soap.

Evans said: "We've all witnessed it, we all know a Corey. We all know a Nina, we've all seen a Nina, we all know a Kelly, we all know an Asha.

"The younger generation are watching the show because the show has changed, just like culture's changing.

"It's resonating with younger people, because they'll go, 'I do know a Nina', and then they're going to look into Sophie Lancaster, and then we're raising that justice and message."

Gibson added: "I think it's sparked fans that weren't even fans of Corrie.

"People in Nina's position or who are judged on their identity watched it. I remember people saying, 'oh, I don't watch it but I did watch that episode', and that's so great."

Evans agreed: "My mates don't really watch the show, but they've been watching it and they're kind of drawn to it now and they want to see what happens.

"A large majority of people have been hooked since that initial attack and now with the trial, it just adds layers."
