Coleen and Maureen Nolan make contact with their potential long-lost sister in an upcoming final episode of their family’s show, At Home With The Nolans.

The sisters are seen chatting on the phone with the woman who could be the daughter their late dad Tommy fathered in the early 1950s during an affair in tonight’s (Tuesday 22 December) episode.

“Our missing sister has always been on my mind,” Maureen, 66, explains in the Quest Red programme. “When I was younger I thought I had years to find her, but now I’m in my sixties and Anne is approaching 70, if we don’t find her now we might never find her.”

As a result, she decides to put her DNA on a database in the hopes of coming back with a match.

Their brother Tommy also makes an interesting revelation as he says he could've met her years ago when someone claimed to be their sister, but he dismissed her.

“That’s the first I’ve heard of that. It almost makes me sad, because if that was her we just ignored her all these years,” Maureen reflects. “I’ve been wishing and longing to find our sister for many years now, and to think that something as simple as spitting into a tube may help to find her, you know?”

Coleen, 55, goes on to share in the programme that she received a message on social media from a man who believes his mother could be their long-lost relative.

Relaying the message to a shocked Maureen, she says: “‘Her birth certificate has been defaced, but her father’s name on the birth certificate is Thomas Nolan. Mum has searched in vain for years for her biological father and mum’s even ordered a DNA test’.”

The pair end up chatting on the phone to the woman herself who tells them how she came to discover the man she called dad wasn't her biological father.

“I think I was probably maybe nine, 10. I remember it being a thing but it became more significant at the time when you need your birth certificate,” she says.

The results of the DNA test is not expected until the New Year, but Coleen states that even if it transpires they aren't related she believes they've "gained a really good friend".

The siblings have previously shared how their late mother Maureen went to confront their father about his infidelity and was met by the other woman instead who told her she was pregnant.

They have said their sister would've been born around 1952, so would be about the same age as 68-year-old sister Denise.

Tommy and Maureen Nolan had eight children in total, sons Tommy and Brian, daughters Anne, Denise, Maureen, Linda, Coleen and Bernadette, who sadly died in 2013 after a cancer battle.

Dad Tommy died in 1998, with eldest daughter Anne claiming after his death that he had sexually abused her.

At Home With The Nolans concludes tonight at 10pm on Quest Red, and is available to stream on discovery+.
