'Close To Me', 'On The Edge' and 'Doctor Who': The best TV this weekend, 5-7 November
As the nights draw in, the weekend TV schedules have upped their game with some must-see shows over the next few days.
Friday night goes heavy on the crime drama with the ever popular Midsomer Murders continuing on ITV, while Dalgliesh heads straight into its second episode at Channel 5.

Strictly continues to bring the sparkle to BBC One on Saturday nights and you can look forward to your next UK coastal trip with Channel 4's Britain By Beach.
On Sunday, the sofa is the best place to be as Channel 4 kicks off an evening of drama with new thriller Close To Me, followed by a triple bill of emotional shorts in On The Edge, while BBC One welcomes Doctor Who back for a second episode of new series Flux.

Midsomer Murders - ITV - 8.30pm
The cosy murder mystery series heads into a quintessential Midsomer investigation as a local cricketer is killed by balls fired at him from a bowling machine.
As Barnaby looks into the strange case, his former sergeant Jones turns up after a move to Brighton a few series earlier - but why is he back under a false name?

Dalgliesh - Channel 5 - 9pm
The new crime drama which began on Thursday continues with a second episode to keep the viewers hooked.
Bertie Carvel stars as Inspector Adam Dalgliesh in this adaptation of PD James' novels and in this episode he's looking into a suspicious death at the hospital.
Saturday
Strictly Come Dancing - BBC One - 6.45pm
We're into week seven of the celebrity dance contest already, and while the Halloween episode may be behind us, there's no let up in the spectacular routines gracing the dancefloor.
Highlights to look out for in tonight's show include John Whaite and Johannes Radebe's Rumba, and AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington's Charleston.
Britain By Beach - Channel 4 - 8.10pm
With more of us than ever before heading to a stretch of UK coastline for our holidays, Channel 4's new travel documentary with Anita Rani is a timely look at Britain's beaches.
In the opening episode, she heads to Devon to discover its D-Day history and Agatha Christie inspiration, all against a beautiful coastal backdrop.
Sunday
Close To Me - Channel 4 - 9pm
Connie Nielsen and Christopher Eccleston star in this thriller about a woman who wakes in hospital after a brain injury with no recollection of any of the events of the previous year.
As far as she knows, she fell down the stairs - but with no idea of any major recent events in her family, and her husband reluctant to fill in the blanks, it comes as a shock when she starts to rediscover her own life.
On The Edge - Channel 4 - 10pm
Season three of the anthology from up-and-coming filmmakers returns with three shorts, beginning with Mincemeat - the story of a girl trying to tackle her overbearing mother's hoarding.
Next up is Cradled, about a new mum getting to grips with how overwhelming modern motherhood is whose life descends into chaos when her baby begins to talk.

Finally, Superdad sees a father and son go on a bonding road trip - although one of them should be in school and the other in a psychiatric hospital.
Doctor Who - BBC One - 6.15pm
The Sontarans are back in this second episode of Flux as the Doctor faces one of her deadliest enemies during the Crimean War.
As the British Army goes into war against the Sontarans, new companion Dan (John Bishop) is further traumatised by this latest odd turn of events.
