In the black: This woman transformed her boring kitchen for just £60

Getting a new kitchen fitted is notoriously expensive - but with a few clever tricks you can give your existing kitchen a totally new look for a tiny fraction of the cost.

That's exactly what Abi Hugo, a DIY and interiors influencer who goes by the handle @thewhitethistle, managed to achieve, detailing her transformation with a video which has since gone viral on TikTok and Instagram.

Using nothing but paint and hardware, Abi spent just £60 to get a totally fresh looking kitchen. Going for a striking and sleek monochrome theme, she updated her cream kitchen cupboards with bold black paint, in Blackjack from Frenchic Paint.

She also spruced up her cupboards with new gold handles from Amazon, which look far more up-to-date than the pre-existing silver ones, and covered her pale blue metro tiles in a coat of white tile paint from Ronseal.

From soft sage to deep forest, green is 2021's most popular kitchen makeover colour. But if you're brave enough to plump for a punchy black, the results can be surprisingly upbeat and liveable.

"It’s crazy how much happier I am every time I walk into this kitchen now! The Magic of Paint! All my black kitchen dreams have come true!" White wrote on Instagram. "I have wanted a black kitchen for years and I think everyone thought I was crazy!"
