Tense drama takes centre stage this weekend with BBC launching new series The North Water and continuing Sunday night hit Vigil.

Will Corey get his comeuppance? (ITV)

It's been Corrie's biggest storyline of the year so far, and tonight the Seb Franklin murder trial reaches its tense climax.

Friday's first episode will reveal whether justice will be served on Corey Brent, while the second episode apparently sees the verdict send shockwaves through Weatherfield - suggesting that although the trial is over, the drama rumbles on.

One of a raft of big drama premieres for BBC this autumn, the much-anticipated The North Water launches on BBC Two on Friday and will then make the full series available on iPlayer.

Colin Farrell, Stephen Graham and Jack O'Connell star in this period drama about an army surgeon who joins a whaling ship in the hope of escaping his troubled past - but finds himself on an Arctic expedition in the company of a murderous psychopath.

The sixth and final season about the devil's adventures on Earth after travelling to Los Angeles to open a nightclub begins streaming on Netflix this weekend.

Stars Tom Ellis and Lauren German have promised that loose ends for many characters will be tied up, including their love story and what they sacrifice to be together.

The Proms made a triumphant return to the Royal Albert Hall this year, and the traditional Last Night of the Proms concert will air on Saturday.

Hosted by Katie Derham, coverage starts on BBC Two from 7.45pm and then switches over to BBC One at 9pm.

Of course, highlights include traditional favourites Rule, Britannia, Land of Hope and Glory and Jerusalem.

Popular ITV drama Endeavour returns with a new case load for the young Morse.

This series is a milestone as it marks the spin-off reaching the same number of episodes as the original Inspector Morse did - 33.

In season eight, Morse is struggling to keep his drinking problem under control and the team are faced with a particularly harsh winter as they look into the death of a university don and threats made on the life of a footballer.
