Bachelor Boy Sir Cliff Richard, 80, has finally learned to make his own bed

Sir Cliff Richard has confessed he has finally learned to make his own bed and use a vacuum cleaner.

The Bachelor Boy singer – who had his debut hit Move It at the age of 18 – revealed that living alone in lockdown meant he was forced to learn how to do housework for the first time in his life.

Sir Cliff, who turned 80 in October, told the Lorraine show: “I learned how to clean toilets, I’ve learnt to vacuum floors, I can now make beds. I know how to use the washing machine and dishwasher. I even make a mean scramble egg on the stove. If my career ended tomorrow, I could be your housekeeper!”

The devout Christian admitted he had struggled with insomnia during the coronavirus pandemic – waking up at 3.15am every day.

But Sir Cliff said he used prayer to get through, saying: “I leaned on my faith.”

And the star had to dramatically cut his 80th birthday plans due to social distancing guidelines which has dramatically affected the live music industry.

Sir Cliff revealed: “I was planning to have 20,0000 people over four days at the Albert Hall and then the rule came out that I had to cut it down. So I got it down to … six!"

The Mistletoe and Wine singer is not the only celebrity to have been pushed into housekeeping duties by the lockdown restrictions on allowing cleaners to visit their home.

Dame Joan Collins, 87, revealed during the first lockdown that she had donned the marigolds for a rare cleaning session.

Back in March she shared a picture of herself cleaning the windows, while husband Percy Gibson was making the bed, captioned, “Well, somebody has to do it.”
