"Stay vigilant folks," Manford added, ending his post with a broken-hearted emoji.

The star's spokesman later confirmed to the Manchester Evening News that it was a unit outside the star's home that had been broken into.

The rep said: "A storage unit outside Jason's property was broken into during the night and a number of items were stolen."

There were no details on what was stolen from the star, who has been working as a volunteer driver during the coronavirus pandemic.

The burglary comes just months after Manford appealed to fans over a theft at his uncle's church.

The father-of-six said at the time that it was a "new low" that bibles were among the items swiped.

"My Uncle Johnny's church, Cadishead Community Church in Salford, has been robbed this weekend," he tweeted in May.

"The scum have trashed the place & stolen all the instruments & equipment, even the bibles!

"That's a new low."

He asked fans: "If anyone is offered any PA equipment or instruments please report to 101."
